The population of Asbury Park, NJ is 15,377 people. It is located in the southeast corner of the state, near the mouth of the Hudson River. The most comfortable months are June, September, and May, while January is the coldest. The city is part of the New York metropolitan area, which is the largest in the country, and includes the island of Manhattan and the eight counties immediately north of it. It is also one of the richest places to live in the U.S.

In 2000, Asbury Park lost 62 percent of its black population. By 2015, the black population had jumped from 15 percent to 32 percent, and the Hispanic population was up from 15 to 32 percent. John Loffredo, who served on the city council from 2001 to 2015, said that most of the Hispanic population came to Asbury Park in 2006 and 2007. This growth coincided with the city's recovery from a bad deal with developer Joseph Carbetta.

The Asbury Park school district is comprised of five schools. In 2017-18, there were 2,204 students enrolled in its five elementary schools. The city's student-teacher ratio was 10.4 to one. The population of Asbury Park is quite diversified, with upscale housing on the east side and a renovated boardwalk on the west. The city also has pockets of poverty and crime.
